15 janv 12 - Kalamazoo Gazette by Pam Shebest : It took eight shooters in the one-on-one tiebreaker, but the Kalamazoo Wings pulled out a 2-1 shootout win against the Toledo Walleye Sunday night. In the five-minute overtime period, the K-Wings outshot Toledo 2-1 but neither team scored, forcing the shootout. After K-Wings goalie Maxime Clermont stopped Gleason Fournier, the K-Wings' Nick Sirota fired past Walleye goalie Dustin Carlson for the game-winner.

The Walleye are now 14-18-1-1 on the season and are 9-10-0-1 on home ice. Walleye forward Joey Martin picked up his 10th goal of the season, taking a great pass from forward Kyle Rogers and putting the puck behind Wheeling goaltender Patrick Killeen. Defenseman Gleason Fournier also picked up an assist on the Toledo goal that came at 12:04 of the first period on the power play...

Three of those players, defender Gleason Fournier, goalie Thomas McCollum and forward Andrej Nestrasil are currently playing for the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL. [...] The 2011-12 season has a been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for Gleason Fournier, being sent back and forth between Grand Rapids and Toledo several times during the year. While he made a few brief pit stops in Grand Rapids, scoring two points in three games, he has spent the majority of his season as a member of the Walleye. In 29 games with the team, Fournier has scored two goals and nine assists for 11 points. With the defense corps a bit crowded in Grand Rapids at the moment, Fournier may have to wait another season to show what kind of impact he can make as a Griffin.

Fournier, a rookie in his first season with Toledo, said he became a huge Detroit Red Wings fans mostly because of Datsyuk's artistry on the ice. "Pavel has awesome hands. He can do anything on the ice," Fournier said. "It's magic." Seven years after watching Datsyuk help the Wings win the Stanley Cup in 2002 as a rookie, Fournier became a part of the organization he had admired. Detroit drafted Fournier in the third round of the 2009 NHL draft. "It was a pretty awesome feeling," Fournier said. "I kind of knew the Red Wings would pick me. They had talked with me, and I had a good feeling. I was a fan, and now I am a part of it. It is a dream come true. I couldn't ask for anything more."
